OBITUARY

Our Dad, Kingsley Rajapakse, passed away on the morning of June 30, 2020 at the regal age of 81. He had Parkinson's disease for over 20 years, and after a recent bout of pneumonia, bowed out peacefully in his sleep with his sons at his side.

Dad was the second youngest of 12 children and grew up in the tiny village of Kadugannawa, Sri Lanka. He was a brilliant man who became a Professional Engineer with a long career at Bell Northern Research/Northern Telecom. He was a loving husband to our Mom, a father to us troublemakers, and a doting Grandpa to his 3 grandchildren whom he adored - Chantay, Kristoff, and Tiana.

Dad’s passions were writing, music, DJ’ing, and a lot of dancing. Dad also had a wacky sense of humour combined with a love of tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. In fact, during his stay at his retirement home, he craftily managed to sneak in tools and tricked out many a walker and wheelchair into a DJ booth.

Dad was a person who, despite his own pain, dedicated his life to easing the pain of others. After writing his book "The Way to Inner Peace", he sent copies to prisons all over Canada and the U.S. to help inmates, many of whom wrote back to him describing how the book had changed their lives.

He touched all of our lives through his kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, and jokery.

Thank you for being a part of our father’s life.

We all miss you, Dad.

Dinali, Johann, Shane.
